Now, aftershave is something you can really play around with quite a lot, Sidetrack looked at several recipe's and came up with a combination that he thought would be similar to the aftershave he was using (which he could no longer find locally and was really expensive purchased online), but tweaked just a bit to suit his needs. So this is pretty much Sidetrack's custom aftershave.
Aftershave consists of a few different things, usually an alcohol or two, a skin softener, a styptic and a scent.
In this case we're using Rubbing Alcohol and Witch Hazel as our alcohol's The type of alcohol can be adjusted to suit your needs. Rubbing alcohol is harsh, but helpful if shaving gives you acne. Witch Hazel is much more gentle, you can also opt to use vodka, or if your skin is really sensitive, skip the alcohol and opt for apple cider vinegar (the vinegar smell will evaporate as it dries, I promise!)
Liquid glycerin or aloe vera work well for skin softeners.
We're adding alum as a styptic and Bergamot oil and Lemon oil for scent. You can adjust the oils to suit your scent preferences. Lavender is a nice soothing oil, which is also good for the skin, lavender and lemongrass along with some eucalyptus oil repels mosquitoes, tea tree oil is a great germ-killer. Whatever you find suits your needs, or just your scent preferences.
